On a serious note though, Enterprising Girls is about helping young Australian women develop the mindset and passion for entrepreneurial and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects, to help set them up for future success!

Get started on your path to becoming an Enterprising Girl as you discover how successful Girl Founders unlocked a growth mindset combining their passion, values and purpose to become ultimate problem solvers.

The Academy for Enterprising Girls was codesigned by secondary school students, educators, experienced entrepreneurs and industry leaders during 2019. We worked with entrepreneurial program providers – the Foundation for Young Australians, Young Change Agents, Future Anything and Tech Girls Movement – to ensure that the curriculum and content uses best practice in entrepreneurial education and where there were existing gaps in materials already on offer. Our consultation and codesign process involved:

  • 168 girls from a range of backgrounds and across primary, secondary and Catholic education
  • 45 educators and educational experts, across primary, secondary and higher education providers
  • 39 industry stakeholders
  • Codesign and consultation events hosted by a range of corporate and educational partners including Google, Atlassian, Canva, Muru-D, Griffith University and CQUniversity

The ten core modules in the program take users on a journey of discovery, using creative and engaging content (such as videos, interactive tasks and extension material) to help each user develop their own personalised end product or service. Module topics are:

  • Girl Founders (hearing from successful business woman and their stories),
  • Finding An Opportunity,
  • Everything Begins With An Idea,
  • Walk In Her Shoes,
  • Standing Out From The Crowd,
  • Prototyping 101,
  • Name It,
  • Making Money,
  • Prove It and Lift Off! (see further detail below on this page)

At the completion of each module they will receive an ‘Achievement Shield’ and a skill ‘Badge’ related to the material in that module. The 10th and final module brings together all the skills they have learnt, based on their own activities and note taking, to create a personalised ‘Business Pitch Presentation’ that is stored as a business website on the AEG platform. This can be shared with friends, family, teachers or even potential customers for their new idea or product.

The AEG platform can be used for self-directed learning or as part of your planned classroom activities. It’s up to you! The online learning program is also complemented by a series of articles, videos, case studies and other materials that you can use to encourage girls into STEM subjects and careers. Find them here.
