Episode

5

Today’s guest is Dr Dharmica Mistry – a microbiologist who at just 22 made a medical breakthrough in breast cancer detection – using a revolutionary blood test to diagnose the deadly disease.

The scientist then turned entrepreneur, filing for an international patent and co-founding an Australian biotechnology company, all before her 25th birthday.

In recognition of her groundbreaking research, Dharmica was awarded NSW Young Woman of the Year in 2016, and was dubbed one of Australia’s top Young Executives by The Australian Financial Review.

Today she heads up MedTech at a startup incubator, Cicada Innovations, as well as being a passionate advocate for women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics – otherwise known as STEM.
