14-year old’s business supports children with medical challenges

Siobhan Wilson is one inspiring 14-year-old to watch! Not only is she the founder of a social enterprise called

Our Pixie Friends, she’s also a three times-published author, philanthropist and public speaker.

We had the opportunity to get to know the Cardinale-based entrepreneur, along with her initiative to support children who are going through medical challenges.

Siobhan’s business journey has come from a place of kindness and inclusion. At just six years of age, Siobhan noticed a gap in the market, where she embarked on a mission to create Our Pixie Friends, a platform aimed at helping children realise they are not alone.

“I kept working on my ideas, writing my stories and designing my website,” Siobhan said.

“When I was 10, I registered my companies. When I was 12, my first book, Sakaela the Sneezy Pixie Visits Amy was published, and phase one of my website went live. It was so exciting!”

“I now have 3 published children’s picture books about overcoming fears, being kind and inclusive and coping with anxiety: Sakaela the Sneezy Pixie Visits Amy, Zizzy the Wheezy Pixie Meets Moondrop and Minksy the Meltdown Pixie Helps Tommy.”

Siobhan received the Westfield Local Heroes grant in 2023, providing her with the  resources to update her website and offer merchandise, including soft silent fidgets which integrated with the books and website, so children can have a fully immersive experience.

Other great resources you can find on her website include:

She continues to sprinkle pixie magic through donating to medical research.

“10% of all my sales is donated to medical research. I have raised over $2,500 so far and donated to the Institute of Molecular Bioscience to find alternative treatments for childhood brain cancer and to JDRF for diabetes research.”

On top of this, she runs ‘The Cozipal Project’ where she donates gift packs to children experiencing trauma through domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, homelessness, children experiencing medical trauma and their siblings who also suffer. These are funded by individuals and businesses in the community.

“So far, I have been able to distribute over 400 packs. My goal for this year is to reach 1000”.

Siobhan spreads awareness to the community through speaking events, and has more recently started a friendship group called Sprizzletastic Pixie Friends for children aged approximately 3-9 with special needs, including anxiety or who have experienced trauma, in the Redlands. It is a fun, safe, no-pressure play space where families can connect with others who understand similar challenges.

“I believe there is power inside each and every one of us to make a difference in our world, regardless of our age, gender, religion, race or socioeconomic background.” Believe in yourself! - Siobhan Wilson
