The Enterprising Girl of the Year award may only be in its second year, but already it’s changing lives and sparking confidence in the next generation of young female leaders. In 2024, the title went to Isabella, whose journey shows just how powerful one opportunity can be.
Being named Enterprising Girl of the Year for Isabella opened doors she never imagined. She presented at Parliament House, met the Governor-General, Her Excellency Sam Mostyn and worked alongside the inspiring Enterprising Girls team. But more than the experiences, it was the growth that left the biggest impact. “I’ve grown so much as a person, learning exceptional leadership, communication and public speaking skills. It really has been life-changing,” she reflects.
The role also came with a special responsibility – becoming the Enterprising Girls Ambassador. In this position, Isabella had the chance to represent young women across Australia, share her story on social media and inspire others to believe in their own ideas. “It’s not just about winning,” she explains. “It’s about using your voice to lift others up.”
One of the most exciting outcomes of her win was creating an Enterprising Girls Club at her school. Built around entrepreneurship and female leadership, the club gives students the space to develop new business ideas, build entrepreneurial skills and gain the confidence to form a business. “I wanted to support the next generation of creative, innovative and courageous young females,” Isabella says.
When asked what advice she would give to other girls thinking about entering the competition, Isabella is clear: “Never give up. By staying committed to your hopes and dreams, you are powerful. Surround yourself with people who inspire and support you, and never underestimate the power of your ideas and dreams.”
Her story proves that the Enterprising Girl of the Year award is about much more than recognition – it’s about growth, opportunity and being part of a movement that celebrates girls who are ready to lead, create and inspire.
