The Girl Founder Club at St Joseph’s: Empowering Young Entrepreneurs

The Girl Founder Club at St Joseph’s Catholic School has become a vibrant hub where students explore entrepreneurship, collaborate, and create real impact. It all started when Remi, Marli, and Frankie approached their teacher with a bold idea – designing school-themed Croc Jibbitz using 3D printing. Their enthusiasm sparked the formation of a club where girls could unleash their creativity, develop problem-solving skills, and gain hands-on business experience.

As the club grew, new members like Eve, Patience, Amity and Sofia brought fresh energy and ideas. Each girl found her own strengths within the group. Eve discovered the power of teamwork: “Girls have different things they like to do, they’re strong in different ways. They show this by working with others and having fun.” Patience embraced the social side of entrepreneurship, sharing, “Getting to market with people and socialising with different personalities has been really valuable.” Amity found joy in giving back, saying, “I love seeing people’s faces when they enjoy things, and I like donating money to people who don’t have much.” Meanwhile, Sofia reflected on the importance of collaboration: “I learned how to work with other girls as a team.

For teacher Rachael, guiding the club has been incredibly rewarding. “When Remi, Marli, and Frankie first approached me with their idea, I saw an opportunity to nurture creativity, business skills, and leadership. Since then, we’ve welcomed new members, each bringing enthusiasm and fresh perspectives.” One of the most fulfilling moments has been watching the students turn an idea into reality. The original members organised a Christmas stall, designing and creating earrings with a laser cutter – gaining hands-on experience in product design, sales, and customer engagement.

Beyond business, these Girl Founder’s have also embraced social impact. They participated in the Ingham flood relief fundraiser, developing key skills in problem-solving, creativity, and communication. Now, with the newest members on board, the club is preparing for an Easter stall to raise funds for the Joeys’ Enterprisers Club!

Through these projects, the Girl Founder Club is doing more than just teaching business – it’s building confidence, leadership, and a strong sense of community. “It’s incredible to watch their confidence grow as they take ownership of projects and work together as a team.” Teacher Rachael explained.

St Joseph’s Girl Founder Club proves that entrepreneurship isn’t just about making products - it’s about making a difference. These young founders are creating real change by uplifting each other, taking the lead, and turning ideas into reality. Could your school be next? Start a Girl Founder Club today!
