Future Female Founders Shine at Yeronga State High

This week, 29 incredible female-identifying students from Years 10–12 at Yeronga State High School in Queensland participated in a Social Entrepreneurship Program delivered by our fantastic delivery partners, Young Change Agents (YCA).

The Academy for Enterprising Girls empowers young women with the confidence, skills and tools to turn their passions into opportunities. And we believe an entrepreneurial mindset combining creativity, problem solving and resilience is a powerful foundation for success in any career or life path.

That’s why we’re so proud to partner with YCA to bring programs like this to schools across Australia. Guided by excellent facilitators Tiffany and Cat, and with the support of Yeronga’s incredible leadership team (thank you Kim for organising and Karl for getting involved on the day!), students spent the day working in teams of 3–5 in a hackathon-style workshop to identify problems in their communities, ideate solutions, validate their ideas, prototype, and pitch FIVE exciting new social enterprise concepts!

These students are now one step closer to becoming confident changemakers, and they’ll soon be recognised at a special certificate ceremony celebrating their growth in mindset, skillset and toolset.

Programs like this are just one way we support girls’ exploration of entrepreneurship, leadership and innovation, and who knows, maybe this year’s Enterprising Girl of the Year is among them!

The Academy for Enterprising Girls -  an Australian government-funded COSBOA initiative - has launched the series of First Nations workshops for the first time this year. Interested in hosting a workshop at your school? Contact us to learn more.
